Het begon op 2 november 1999 en eindigde op 19 juni 2000, toen LA Lakers de zesde wedstrijd van de NBA Finale met 116-111 won en daarmee op 4-2 kwam in de serie tegen verliezend finalist Indiana Pacers. Shaquille O'Neal van LA Lakers werd verkozen tot zowel NBA Most Valuable Player als NBA Finals Most Valuable Player.
